The view from my bedroom!

The view from my bedroom is not bad at all, amazing in fact, especially at night. I am now staying in Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia. It only takes less than 15 minutes by metro to go to my office everyday. I like it a lot because at least now I have time to read a book. I am pretty busy in the office and whenever I get home at night, I feel tired and have no more energy to read. So having 15 minutes for free, when you cannot do anything else, except reading and listening to your ipod, nothing you can do basically. I am reading Anne Frank's book now "The diary of a young girl". I have been always wanting to read this book but never managed to do it until now. This book tells about what happened to the Jews in Holland during the Nazis' occupation in 1942. Sad and funny. Interesting reading. I was waiting for Andrea at Barnes and Noble at the Union Square in New York when I found this book.

I meet many muslims here that make me feel happy spiritually. There will always be someone who greets me with "Assalamu'alaikum" everywhere I go. I know it sounds like a dork! But I miss seeing a water cup in the bathroom, or someone who will put up their feet on the loo sink for washing up before praying, hehehe. See..I am glad that I am not the only one who do that. (Only Jeremy's mom and my female classmates who will smile when reading this sentence) :) Also, the good thing is that WB has a seperate room for Muslim to pray in building J, complete with Al-Qur'an to read :) Nice!

Hi Rina, I love the view from your bedroom. In my alternate life I would work in Washington D.C. as a political activist! Thank you for the book, that was a sweet surprise. I will be sharing the book with my 5th graders next year. That is when they study U.S. history. I will also show them a picture of you and Clinton.

I bought two pink tops yesterday and thought of you.

Oh Cathy, it's so sweet of you to leave me a comment. I asked Jeremy to ask you to read my blog because I wrote something about the water cup in the bathroom, and of course you should understand what it means by now, hehe. It's so fun to see other Muslims are also doing that and they are all from different countries :) I was smiling when I wrote that because I remembered your face when I told you that.

I am glad to know that you also like pink now :) I give you a good influence, apparently, hehe. By the way, I definately can picture you as a political activist in DC and run around in Capitol Hill!

Love,
Your Acehnese Daughter

Rina--enjoy Crystal City for me! Check out 723 21st Street, a couple of blocks north from your new home. I lived in the basement there. And a few blocks west of you is a strip of yummy restaurants on 23rd Street. Cafe Italia and Urban Thai were my favorites.

See you soon!
